Wordless Wednesday - Isaac was very intrigued with the baby doll!

What is Good

• Isaac has learned to crawl this week
  
• Reconnecting with some friends that I have missed greatly
• Crockpot meals
• Spending the day with the boys and Dustin at the zoo, then Johns Incredible Pizza and bowling with Jeremy, Adrienne and their boys ~ all in a day
• Listening to Alex sign his own little songs
  
• Spontaneous trips to San Francisco and watching Alex run on the pier
• God is Good!

This week at our MOPS get together we had a guest speaker come and share about gardening.
She even helped us plant a little herb garden in a pot complete with sage, thyme, cilantro, and basil.


I've never had a garden of my own. Growing up my parents planted one almost every year and we would lend our hand at helping out ~ planting, weeding, watering and harvesting but it was always a chore and to be honest I never really enjoyed it. My mom loves to garden, in fact she has a post that she recently wrote about it and you can see it by clicking here.
At the class the lady was so educated and really knew her stuff about gardening! She shared five things with us that are crucial in having a successful garden.

1. Only plant what you like
2. Provide them (the plants) with a place to grow
3. Think like the plants. Make sure they have water to drink, good sunlight, feed them well (they too need nutrition)
4. Sing to your plants - get close to them
5. Enjoy them - harvest them

To the avid gardener these are really basic and obvious pointers and you might think them silly to even think about but they really hit a soft spot for me. None of these things ever occurred to me before, other then the obvious of course, it was always plant, water, and pick and that was all there was to it. After she shared I left there completely inspired and encouraged to plant a garden of my very own. I think the first thing I will attempted will be strawberries. We don't have a yard, we live in a condo with a little porch so there's not a lot of room to plant a ton of things. There is a little plot of dirt, it will be just big enough for some strawberries, and all of us love strawberries so I think that is a good place to start ~ in addition to my little herb garden in a pot.
I'm excited pull out the spade, get my hands dirty and sing to my plants!

Wordless Wednesday - The Love Train!

An interruption to our time in the snow.

This past weekend we made our way to Tahoe City to have a fun-filled day in the snow. We met up with some of Dustin's family (mom, Grandma, brother and his family) for lunch then headed to the snow park.

Dustin and Alex made their way up the steep hill with their sled in tow. I captured a shot of their first and last trip down the hill for that day...

They made it down and Alex was shaking like crazy! This wasn't like him at all, normally he would be thrilled to be speeding down the hill with his best friend - daddy! I grabbed him and he was burning up! Dustin rushed him up to the lodge while I stayed with Isaac. Isaac was pretty content ridding around in the snow with Nana and grandma.


Of course knowing that my baby Alex was miserable I wasn't able to hide my sadness so Dustin's mom went to check things out. She came right back saying that he should go to see a doctor. So off to Urgent care we all went. He had a fever of 104.2 degrees! My poor baby was just miserable. We left the Dr's with some Tylenol and Motrin in his system, the fever under 101 and the doctors diagnosis ~ a winter virus. I know that the only way I found peace was through Jesus! I had to release all of my fears over to Him knowing that my baby was at risk with a fever that high! I thank Him that Alex is okay.

So, after a quick lunch with the family, less than 10 minutes in the snow and about a 30 minute trip to urgent care we headed for home. Fortunately we were only 2 hours away. Alex got some much needed rest over the last few days and is now feeling a lot better!

We are looking forward to going back to the snow when Alex can enjoy himself and I can go down that hill, it looked like a ton of fun!!

I recently got the movie soundtrack for He's Just Not That Into You.

One of the reasons I like movie soundstracks in general is the selection of music on one CD. I have to be honest with you and confess that I really don't listen to a lot of secular music and was pleasantly surprised with myself that I actually recognized a few of the artists on this soundtrack! It has a great variety of artists including R.E.M, Maroon 5, Scarlett Johansson and others. The first time I listened to it I just kinda skimmed through the songs but then later listened to the CD in it's entirety and really enjoyed it!

I have yet to see the movie He Just Not That Into You, listening to the soundtrack that was released at the beginning of this month got me all jazzed up to go see it. Hey, come to think of it I just may be planning a girls night in the very near future. Or, maybe I can convince my hubby to take me on a date! Either way I look forward to seeing it soon. But for the time being I suppose that I should be content with this fun, upbeat soundtrack!

Okay, so here's the good news! I have a copy of the soundtrack to the movie and a hoodie to giveaway to one of my lucky readers!
